EDIT: Festival has now been postponed until Summer 2021.
London’s most popular contemporary art festival, Art Night, will celebrate its fifth edition in June 2020 and reflect on what the nocturnal event has achieved since its first iteration in 2016.
Transforming iconic and unexpected public spaces within the city from 6.00pm on Saturday 20 June into the early hours of Sunday 21 June, the festival will return to the site of the first edition to celebrate its five-year anniversary: The Strand on the North Bank of the Thames. For the fifth year running, Art Night will be supported by international auction house Phillips.
Titled Nothing Compares 2 U, after the song penned by Prince and most famously performed by Irish musician Sinead O’Connor, the programme for Art Night 2020 is curated by Art Night’s Artistic Director Helen Nisbet and takes inspiration from defiance in small acts and moments of self-determination, in everyday life, politics, music and literature. The festival will celebrate the rich history, culture and architecture of The Strand, highlighting the area’s diverse local landmarks along the North Bank of the Thames. Returning to venues and public sites that hosted the inaugural edition, Art Night 2020 will continue to unlock London’s unique public and private spaces to transform them for one night only.
