ABOUT THE WORK

Sonya Dyer will present a new moving image commission inspired by the mis-remembered Greek myth of Andromeda. Andromeda, the Ethiopian princess whose beauty enraged the Greek Gods – and who became both a constellation and a galaxy – takes a central role in the work, inviting the audience to radically reimagine the history and potential of Space travel.

Sonya Dyer lives and works in London. Dyer is an artist and writer. Previous exhibitions and projects include Rewriting the Future (Site Gallery, Sheffield 2019), Or, Dark Fecundity (Centre for Afrofuturist Studies, Iowa City, 2018) and The Claudia Jones Space Station (BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Arts, Gateshead, 2017).
