Art Night will celebrate its fifth edition by returning to the site of the first edition: The Strand on the North Bank of the Thames. Oona Doherty

180 The Strand

Award winning dancer and choreographer Oona Doherty will stage an immersive theatrical installation and live performance. Titled Lazarus Multiverse the commission draws on Doherty’s earlier solo performance Hope Hunt and the Ascension Into Lazarus.

Somerset House

Sonya Dyer will present a new moving image commission inspired by the mis-remembered Greek myth of Andromeda. Andromeda, the Ethiopian princess whose beauty enraged the Greek Gods - and who became both a constellation and a galaxy - takes a central role in the work, inviting the audience to radically reimagine the history and potential of Space travel.

Adham Faramawy

180 The Strand

Adham Faramawy will present a new live performance continuing their research into bodies, desire and queering ideas of the natural. The work will combine sound, sculpture, spoken word, dance and video and consider the different ways bodies interact with substances and with each other and when a body, behaviour, movement or interaction might be desirable and when it might be unwelcome.

The Guerrilla Girls

Somerset House Courtyard

The Guerrilla Girls will present a major new commission for Art Night. The work will combine installation and performance, exploring themes of gender inequality, abuse of power and tales of bad behaviour.

Isabel Lewis

Venues in Skye & London

Isabel Lewis will stage a “hosted occasion” bringing together performance, music, storytelling, and conversation with special guests. In this Art Night co-commission with Atlas Arts in Skye, Lewis draws from her research into landscapes in Skye and London to weave a circuitous narrative about interspecies bonds and the potential of mutually beneficial relationships in situations of difference in close proximity.

Imran Perretta &
Paul Purgas

King's College London

AMRA is an audio-visual collaboration between artists Imran Perretta and Paul Purgas. For Art Night they will incorporate electronic sound and dance, presenting a live performance including fractured sonics and Indian instrumentation exploring the hypnotic syntax of the ancient Tala rhythmic system and its perceptual manipulations of time.

Philomène Pirecki

180 The Strand

Working with phenomena including bioacoustics, vibration and electromagnetism, Philomène Pirecki will present a new audio visual installation and live performance. The work will explore the fleeting nature of heightened sensory and emotional states, continuing Pirecki’s preoccupation with the temporalities and impermanence of lived experience, time, memory and perception.

OOMK will create a futuristic library and a series of sound works offering the time and space to engage with print, the self and the city as a community. The work will take the form of a dreamlike static environment fostering quiet reflection and solidarity.
